Calico once again demonstrates the beauty of Burleigh and the fine quality of traditional pottery craftsmanship. Printed from hand using cut copper engravings in a deep rich blue, this permanent decoration applied underglaze is dishwasher and detergent proof and safe for use in a microwave. Produced since 1960, the famous deep cobalt blue pattern derived from early Victorian pattern "calico" a type of cloth known for its distinctive, all-over floral print. Burleigh’s design represents the spring with fallen Prunus blossom onto cracked ice. The range is as popular as ever and available in a wide variety of items and was produced in 2006 in red and 2016 in dove grey.
