How We Pack Our China

Here at Chinasearch, we love china and want our customers to enjoy opening what they buy from us, whether that’s a replacement item from a discontinued pattern or a new piece of tableware from a current one. We take great care over how we pack our china so that our customers receive their beautiful purchases in one piece.

We’ve spent 35 years perfecting the fine art of packing china and have found newspaper to be the best packing material by a long way – it is readily available, a very effective shock absorber and easy to dispose of in a way that’s kind to the environment. We use both printed newspaper and white offcuts, though always try and reduce our waste by recycling and reusing packaging when possible. As with our discontinued china, all packaging materials are held for at least 3 days before sending to our customers.

For smaller orders, we use retention packaging, which is a cardboard box with a sheet of plastic to secure the items in transit and help reduce damage. This approach uses much less packaging, making the box lighter, and is just as recyclable as cardboard on its own.

Both options are tried and tested for transporting china to our customers in one piece and help us to minimise our impact on the environment.

Returns Information

If your order arrives damaged or there is a fault with any of your items, then please contact us by email or phone so that we can get this quickly resolved for you. Call our customer service team on 01926 512402 or email

If you have changed your mind and want to return any items then please contact us by email or phone, within 14 days. Our Customer Service Team will let you know the returns address, then please repack your items and return them to us in a saleable condition. We recommend you obtain proof of posting or use a tracked courier service for larger orders. If it helps we can arrange mainland UK Parcelforce collections at a cost of £8.95 per parcel. Once the items have been received and checked, your refund will be processed within 3 days.
