• About Blue Calico

  Calico once again demonstrates the beauty of Burleigh and the fine quality of traditional pottery craftsmanship. Printed from hand using cut copper engravings in a deep rich blue, this permanent decoration applied underglaze is dishwasher and detergent proof and safe for use in a microwave. Produced since 1960, the famous deep cobalt blue pattern derived from early Victorian pattern "calico" a type of cloth known for its distinctive, all-over floral print. Burleigh’s design represents the spring with fallen Prunus blossom onto cracked ice. The range is as popular as ever and available in a wide variety of items and was produced in 2006 in red and 2016 in dove grey.

  janet mcphailOct 7th 2018Even though my husband managed to break our two breakfast cups, all our Calico pottery has proved extremely hard wearing. The classic blue and white never loses its appeal, and you can build up your collection s piece at a time.
