• About Old Colonial

  Adams Old Colonial pattern originates from a 1950s sponge-decorated design and was produced by Adams using lithographs until the late 1990s.

  There was significant rationalisation of the Adams product range in 1987, and Old Colonial was one of a few patterns that survived the chop. By 1994, 'Old Colonial' was being marketed as part of the Adam's collection under the Wedgwood banner; then production finally ended in 1996.

  The design uses bold colours to showcase the flowers and leaves on simple shapes with red bands and appears to have evolved from early to mid-19th century Persian painted designs such as Adams Rose.

  Jun 3rd 2016Surprised at the size of the box for an egg cup but when I opened the box and saw how you secured the egg cup, well that explained everything. The attention to detail was obvious!

  Apr 16th 2013The website showed a picture representing an Adams Old Colonial eggcup but when the two ordered arrived, they were a watered-down version: slightly smaller in thinner china & colours less rich than the originals I still have. Not serious enough to send back, but still disappointing.
