At Chinasearch, we love being surrounded by so many popular china collections from the past decades, ready to carefully package and despatch to customers looking to replace a much-loved piece from their own set.

And we’re also proud curators of the elegant promotional materials of the time, including brochures, adverts and leaflets that highlight new pieces and pattern launches.

Royal Doulton 1960s china today

In this 1964 advert from Country Fair, Royal Doulton brings to life the trend of the time for coloured borders adorned with luxurious gold friezes, and gilding off a white fine bone china base. All patterns take the renowned Classic shape, promoted within the advert for its suitability to take a variety of decoration.

This approach by Royal Doulton, and many manufacturers, has helped to build versatile collections that have themed well together over time and are ideal for mixing and matching today.

Featured within this advertising campaign are splendid Royal Doulton pieces stocked by Chinasearch, including an English Renaissance dinner plate (produced 1963–1996), with its classic frieze composed of vines, garlands and scrolls in precious gold, splendidly arrayed on a generous regency green border, and a Sovereign – H4973 coffee can (produced 1964–1981), which, enhanced with a regal gold decoration, reflects the tradition that has made fine bone china a possession to be treasured.

Also on show are an elegant Belmont – H4991 covered sugar bowl (produced 1967–1992) and a statement Vanborough coffee pot (produced 1967–1985).

And the spectacular Buckingham Red (produced 1963–1979) is a standout pattern, with its lustrous gold and ruby red borders that contrast handsomely with superbly white bone china.
