When your heart is set on timeless floral dinnerware featuring a rose pattern, then it has to be Royal Albert. And spring is the perfect time to enjoy the many, many roses of Royal Albert.

Royal Albert China stretches back well over a century to when the Albert Works was built to celebrate the birth of Prince Albert in 1895, who was named after his famous great-grandfather and husband to Queen Victoria. Creating affordable tea, breakfast and dessert ware featuring beautiful floral designs soon became Royal Albert China’s signature style.

One of the most popular tableware designs ever is Royal Albert's Old Country Roses. Themed with a gorgeous floral border inspired by English roses in full bloom, this red, pink and yellow rose pattern is presented on the classic Royal Albert Montrose shape. This English-cottage-garden-inspired pattern, which celebrated its 60th anniversary last year, is still manufactured today, meaning you can buy either new Old Country Roses pieces or, as many prefer, pre-owned Made in England pieces. The transition from UK manufacture to production abroad happened between 1998 and 2002, at which point production in England ceased.

Royal Albert is not just about Old Country Roses; there are so many fabulous designs, and many feature roses.

Royal Albert Tranquility

Taking a look at some other Royal Albert Roses and there’s Dimity Rose, which has a romantic feel created through its delicate and fine pink rose pattern with gold trim. Tranquility, which is made on the Gainsborough shape, lives up to its name and brings about serenity and calmness through a pattern combining grey scrolls, pink roses and blue flowers.

Royal Albert Lavender Rose

As its name suggests, Lavender Rose elegantly brings together pink roses with lavender blooms. The pieces featuring this delicate floral pattern are trimmed with the lightest of gilding. Another pattern to feature the purple hues of lavender is Autumn Roses, with the lavender sitting among pink and yellow flowers in prominent clusters.

Royal Albert Winsome

Moss Rose – a timeless design which was in production for more than 50 years – offers a sense of beauty and sophistication, combining a green leaf design with flowers in pink and blue. And our final Royal Albert Roses pattern, Winsome, has miniature pink roses and blue flowers arranged in a graceful symmetrical pattern. This allows the bright white of the fine bone china to stand out and add to the creation of a fresh floral effect.
