We’re welcoming the new year in at Chinasearch with a celebration of the many china and pottery manufacturers that still produce all, or a significant proportion, of their pieces in the UK.

Burleigh has been crafted at the renowned Middleport Pottery since 1889, Denby Pottery is of course named after the village of Denby in Derbyshire where its factory remains, and much of Spode's production has returned to its own factory, which sits very near to founder Josiah Spode’s original works.

Here we feature three exceptional Made in England collections with colouring that makes a dramatic statement: black of Burleigh Black Regal Peacock, grey of Spode Delamere Rural and deep inky blue with grey fleck of Denby Halo. The homegrown design and craftsmanship can be seen in generous amounts within these patterns, all crafted in recent years but taking inspiration from decades gone by.

Burleigh Black Regal Peacock displays striking oriental bird motifs and dark, rich colour for a majestic charm. Introduced in 2017, this pattern is a chic take on the classic Blue Regal Peacock, launched more than 100 years ago in 1913.

Spode Delamere Rural

With Spode Delamere Rural, a 2013 introduction, we see the coming together of the popular Delamere pattern and the striking animal studies of the intricate Woodland pattern. The contemporary grey border features native British flowers, incorporating design detail from 1831.

Denby Halo Dinnerware

Established in 2010, Denby Halo truly reflects the manufacturer’s time-honoured know-how. This collection’s unique design is crafted by fusing together two tones of a secret glaze to produce a captivating effect.

With all three manufacturers creating their first collections more than 150 years ago – Burleigh, 1851; Spode, 1776; Denby, 1809 – so much design influence and production experience has gone into these dinnerware collections that we’re proud to highlight as Made in England.

Maybe this reminder of just how much china and pottery is still UK-made will inspire your next purchase…
