When colour expert Pantone reveals its ‘Colour of the Year’ every December, we love to pick out our stocked collections that are in harmony with their predictions.

For the year ahead, Pantone encourages us to “embrace the warmth” of Peach Fuzz – its Colour of the Year 2024. Although peach isn’t a colour we often associate with tableware, it’s an attractive and elegant hue. We like Pantone’s description of Peach Fuzz as “a colour radiant with warmth and modern elegance” and think Poole Pottery’s Twintone Seagull and Peach collection perfectly represents those words.

Also known by its colour combination number ‘C97’, this two-colour Peach Bloom and Seagull collection was launched in 1953 and discontinued in 1968. Interestingly, Poole Pottery’s Twintone collections not only have a distinctive twin-colour look but also have a dedicated glaze, described as “semi-matt” or “vellum” because of its smooth feel and soft sheen.

Poole Pottery Twintone Dove Grey and Sky Blue

Other Poole Pottery Twintone combinations that hit the mark for their attractive colour pairings are Seagull and Ice Green, and Dove Grey and Sky Blue.

Featuring a contemporary colour pairing that would look comfortable in a tableware catalogue today, Twintone Dove Grey and Sky Blue (also known by ‘C104’) was very successful in its day and in production from 1958 until 1981.

With the Twintone Seagull and Ice Green colourway (also known by ‘C57’), the pale turquoise and mottled grey add a freshness to the two-tone offering. Again, production ran until 1981 after the collection proved very popular.

We have items in stock of all three Poole Pottery Twintone collections, making it easy to add a touch of Peach Bloom, Sky Blue or Ice Green – all complemented by Grey – to an existing collection for the new year, or to replace a much-loved item that’s been lost or damaged over the years.

Thanks to Pantone for its annual colour predictions, and here’s hoping for a peachy 2024 for us all!
