Designed in 1973 by David Yorath, Potters Wheel is a standout example of Denby’s embrace of freelance design talent during the 1970s. This period saw a fresh wave of creativity as independent designers made bold contributions to the Denby range before moving on — and Potters Wheel remains one of the most enduring results.
The design features a minimalist, earthy aesthetic: concentric bands in natural tones of oatmeal and brown, framing a central well glazed in either tan, green, or blue. This restrained palette and simple geometry gave Potters Wheel a timeless, handcrafted feel — aligning with the decade’s return to artisan values and natural materials.
