A re issue c. 1940s of the Cattle Scenery pattern with a wide rose border and gadrooned edge. Up until 1962 the pattern was named cattle scenery but a version for German department store Hertie buyer Mr. Oertel wanted to supply a range that featured horses instead of cows and so the name changed to English Scenic. The horse design became very popular so that when Adams & Sons was purchased by Wedgwood on 1st January 1966 they decided to not make the cattle scene and only produce the horse scene in English Scenic Blue.
