New Year Decluttering

We hope you had a lovely festive season and perhaps enjoyed bringing out your special dinner set for family and friends. Or maybe you thought about using your ‘best’ china from the back of the cupboard, but then decided it was a bit too much hassle and you’d rather stick with your everyday plates anyway.
If this sounds like you then our decluttering blog might be a timely read.
The concept of ‘decluttering’ and the month of January go hand in hand. We’ve even heard that people enjoy taking on a ‘Decluttering Challenge’ at the start of a new year, but that sounds like quite the task – and we prefer to keep things a bit more low key.
Making the decision to let go of old china can be difficult, especially when the collection has a lot of sentimental value. So if you do decide that now is a good time for some decluttering, remember that there isn’t a rule that says you have to be ruthless. Take it at the right pace for you.

What can you do with those dinner sets you no longer use?
At Chinasearch, we make it as easy as possible for people to sell their pre-loved china to us. Take a look at our helpful guide to selling china here. We look to buy good condition second-hand china – just so you know, we don’t buy everything that’s offered to us. Some collections are more in demand than others, and we need to take this into account when making a decision to buy.
Another option for your second-hand china is to donate it to charity. We pass on our unwanted china to Barnardo’s. Charity shops are always grateful for dinner sets: they look brilliant in windows and appeal to people looking to buy vintage. Your local auction house is also somewhere great to try if you’re keen to sell rather than donate.
Decluttering – or just having a good old sort-out – is such a positive way to start the year. You can create space in your cupboards (something we all need!) and let someone else own and love something that you don’t need or use any more. We’re here to help with your questions on selling china, so please get in touch.
