Blue Denmark is much talked about in the world of tableware. This famous pattern has a long history that dates back to the early 1700s and has been manufactured by at least five different china brands, the most recent still producing it today.

If you happen to own this elegant and timeless blue and white underglaze pattern, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you ever need to replace a broken or missing item or want to add something to your existing set. Blue Denmark is such a stylish pattern on its own, but we particularly like how the platters, serving bowls, and vegetable tureens easily add an accent to a classic white dinner set.

Mason's Blue Denmark

Based on an original pattern from Copenhagen, Blue Denmark has been manufactured by Furnivals, Franciscan, Mason’s and Johnson Brothers. Blue and white is a classic and much-admired look for china, and Blue Denmark brings this colour scheme to life with an ornate pattern of stylised flowers and repeating mussels, hence its ‘Mussel Pattern’ reference. Eash of these Blue Denmark patterns are identifiable thanks to their ribbed shape; Furnivals Blue Denmark, Franciscan Blue Denmark, Mason’s Blue Denmark and Johnson Brothers Blue Denmark.

Churchill Finlandia, came back into manufacture in 2021 and is inspired by Blue Denmark but uses a scalloped dinnerware shape. Attractive for its fine detailing and beautiful rich blue colour, Churchill Finlandia is manufactured at the company’s Stoke on Trent factory.
