- About Old Colonial
Adams Old Colonial pattern originates from a 1950s sponge-decorated design and was produced by Adams using lithographs until the late 1990s.
There was significant rationalisation of the Adams product range in 1987, and Old Colonial was one of a few patterns that survived the chop. By 1994, 'Old Colonial' was being marketed as part of the Adam's collection under the Wedgwood banner; then production finally ended in 1996.
The design uses bold colours to showcase the flowers and leaves on simple shapes with red bands and appears to have evolved from early to mid-19th century Persian painted designs such as Adams Rose.
At Chinasearch, we stock an extensive collection of Old Colonial, from the famous rimmed bowls to bread and butter plates, soup cups, and plenty more.
